Stop and Listen

$30.00

A short, palm-sized linocut book about what Quaker worship is all about.

Quakers worship in silence, only speaking when called by the divine within us— but what does that feel like? What do we DO in the silence? This little book tells that story with depth while being simple and direct, making it useful for kids and newcomers to this spiritual practice, and a meaningful affirmation for seasoned Friends too. The words read like a poem, accompanied by sweet, ecstatic illustrations depicting how it feels to dwell in God’s presence and be moved, while in community.

The text originated from a spoken message I gave to Quaker teens gathered at the end of our first retreat back together since the pandemic. It was meant to call them back to the core of how we worship— to simply dwell in the sacred love that is present for each one of us, always, and to move and speak from that place.

Made for Quaker youth, communities of Friends in need of guidance and affirmation, and any seekers of any faith background who are curious about Quakerism or simply in need of spiritual nourishment.
